Hello readers! The last book of my Twenty-Niners of the Georgia Gold Rush series released in May. This summer, my novella, Ofuskee Trail Surrender, debuts as part of the three-novella collection, Freed By the Frontier (6/30/26). In August, we'll add A Contrary Betrothal (8/18/26) to the Scouts of the Georgia Frontier. I'll be promoting these books online and in person this year. But that doesn't mean I'm not looking ahead to 2027 and beyond. Between book promos and editing, I've been diligently researching my next series. And now I'm delighted to announce that I've signed a contract with Wild Heart Books for The Brides of the Blue Ridge Rangers!
What is this, you say? Blue Ridge Rangers?
Yes, this series will feature adventurous and unique heroines who had the gumption and grit to throw in their lots with Western North Carolina's first forest service rangers in the early 1900s. The stories will be set in Biltmore Forest (1908), Pisgah Forest (1916), and Nantahala Forest (1919). The photo featured with my post is of one of 14 Black Forest-style lodges George Vanderbilt's forester, Carl Schenck, had built for his rangers to oversee Vanderbilt's land in Biltmore and Pisgah forests. These rangers faced dangers from greedy loggers, bootleggers, fires, floods, and wild animals. Their remote forest service stations became sites for some of the earliest lookout towers later built by the CCC. Book blurbs to come, but here are the titles and release dates:
The Socialite's Secret and Her Reluctant Protector - August 17, 2027
The Biltmore Botanist and Her Cherokee Guardian - March 21, 2028
The Lost Archeologist and Her Scarred Soldier - August 15, 2028
I look forward to taking another adventure with you in 2027 and 2028. Sign up for my newsletter for more detailed updates and glimpses into my research ramblings in the NC mountains.
